Riders in this category must qualify at their regional qualifier.

Novice 8 & Under is a category designed for riders who are new to competition, riders must be aged 8 or under as of the 1st September 2023 to qualify.

Riders in the Novice category are prohibited from having any sponsors and must be a NOVICE in the sport. If you have a sponsor then you are to place yourself into the relevant Intermediate category, unless this is a Pro Sponsorship, then you will need to register within the Pro/Elite Section.

A rider or parent who knowingly enters themselves or their child into this category and is clearly not new to competition will be disqualified by the judges or shall be asked to move up into the intermediates category based on the discretion of the ScootGB judges.

Riders performing tricks with strong amplitude, speed and flow are advised to participate in the Intermediate category.

Riders deemed above novice level will be moved up to Intermediate level (this could be before or after a run takes place. Judges word is final where this is concerned).

Please note, capability to perform a trick, such as backflip, is not a complete metric for determining a rider’s category. The judges will consider the style, speed, and technique with which a given technique is performed. For example, the same trick performed flyout and over a volcano / box are not the same thing.

Trick and sponsor guidelines apply to qualification rounds only. This is to encourage riders to work on their skills and abilities, allowing for them to perform to their highest standard come the final round. This also stops a rider from being penalised if they are able to pick up a sponsor during the season, before the final round, but after their qualification round. (The exception for this is if a rider picks up a PRO sponsor. They must then enter the PRO category regardless of these allowances).

(ScootGB aims to encourage new riders to get involved with competition, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. The ScootGB instagram @scootsportgb is the best place to ask your questions).
